RYA

Established in 2024 by Clementine Hugo-Hamman, RYA specialises in hand-woven rugs made in South Africa. RYA derives its name from the rya knot, a centuries-old technique of intricately interlacing yarn on a loom to create finely woven fabrics. Inspired by the designer's experience in architecture, RYA's design approach goes beyond the aesthetic and reflects simplicity, functionality, and sustainability through meticulous craftsmanship.

For Cape Town Furniture Week 2024, RYA is exhibiting a piece from their first collection in the official CTFW New Design exhibition.
