Learn more about the different parts of the programme below, and see the schedule for events taking place over the four days, including Opening Night, talks, walkabouts and factory tours. For districts, exhibitors and locations, see the Exhibitors page.
The 2024 programme takes place across four districts in and around Cape Town’s central City Bowl area. Districts include the Central City, De Waterkant, Kloof Street, and the East City. Locations within each district are easy to walk between, with the East City district a bit more spread out but worth exploring as one.
Each district includes multiple showrooms, as well as special exhibitions and displays in various galleries, stores and pop-up locations. Most locations feature something special to see for Cape Town Furniture Week, including new products, collaborations and displays. These locations are open for the public to explore on Wednesday 14 February (5pm - 8pm), Thursday 15 February (10am - 5pm), Friday 16 February (10am - 5pm), and Saturday 17 February (10am - 2pm).
Cape Town Furniture Week kicks off with Opening Night on Wednesday 14 February from 5pm to 8pm. The public is invited to explore showrooms and exhibitions after hours, as exhibitors reveal new products and special displays. See the schedule below for special events happening on Opening Night.
This year’s programme sees the addition of talks organised by individual exhibitors, as well as official CTFW talks, including ‘Making, Here, Now’, a panel discussion on local production, and ‘Designing the Future’, a panel discussion on sustainability and the circular economy. There are also factory and studio tours taking place outside of the city on Thursday and Friday, allowing you to see behind the scenes of the local furniture industry.
Beyond the exhibitions, Cape Town Furniture Week is about building community. We’ve highlighted a few social spaces to increase the likelihood for serendipitous connections over the four days. For good coffee and refreshment there’s the Rosetta Roastery café (101 Bree Street) and the new Pauline’s café (37a Somerset Road). And to end off each day, we invite exhibitors and attendees to rub shoulders and swap stories for Aperitivo in the beautiful courtyard of The Gin Bar (64a Wale Street) between 4pm and 6pm.
Show your appreciation for your favourite exhibitor at Cape Town Furniture Week by voting for them in the Best in Show category of the CTFW Awards. Merit is given for both creativity and community – think about the product, display, or team that stood out for you. Voting opens from 5pm on Wednesday 14 February.
Cape Town Furniture Week kicks off with all participating venues opening from 5pm to 8pm. Walk between open showrooms, exhibitions and launches in each district. There's a lot to see, so use Opening Night to find something you like, enjoy in the festivities, and come back over the following days to take in more of the programme.
