NØDE operates as a point of connection, where structure is both the starting point and the expression of design. Working primarily in aluminium, the studio leverages the material’s strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance, refining these properties through a combination of precise machining and hand-applied surface treatments. This process introduces tactility and subtle variation, balancing industrial clarity with the trace of the hand. Rooted in industrial design and informed by a deep appreciation for metal craftsmanship, NØDE draws influence from its shared lineage with Bronze Age Studio. Led by creative director Charles Haupt, the Cape Town–based studio continues to develop innovative approaches to working with aluminium, with work presented internationally.
